Welcome
The PD&E study for this project, which determined the design concept, was approved and completed in 2016. The project is currently in the right-of-way phase in which the Department will acquire the right-of-way needed for the project. The project is also in the final design phase where the design concept was that was approved during the PD&E is being refined and finalized. The concept has not changed in any significant way from the concept that was approved during the PD&E. Construction is currently not funded for the project. Public meetings and hearings will be helpd when the project becomes funded for construction, in order to update the public on the project and let them know when they can expect construction to begin, provide details of the construction plans and when the project would be completed.
The proposed project includes the widening from two to four lanes a rural segment of Olso Road, an east-west facility located southwest of Vero Beach, located in Indian River County. The length of the project is approximately 3 miles and the limits extend from east of 82nd Avenue to 58th Avenue. In this context, 82nd Avenue is as realigned by the interchange project, 413048-2-52-01.
The project also will complement previous four-lane widening projects on Oslo Road east of the project limits from Southwest 58th Avenue to Southwest 27th Avenue. In conjunction with proposed Oslo Interchange project (413048-2-52-01), the result will be that Oslo Road will be a continuous four-lane roadway from I-95 to US 1. Overall, the proposed improvements will allow Oslo Road to operate as a main arterial providing east-west movement of local, regional and truck traffic. The Indian River MPO’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan identifies a need for rural bike lanes and wide sidewalks along Oslo Road.
The proposed improvements for this project include: adding lanes and reconstructing Oslo Road, improving drainage, signing, signalization, bicycle lanes and sidewalks. Right of way acquisition is required for the roadway corridor and for the off-site ponds.
